As an operating room nurse who needed a Total Knee Replacement, I chose Dr Salyaponges due to his excellent surgical experience, compassionate personality and excellent bedside manner. My surgery went great and I spent 1 night in the hospital. During my Postoperative period Dr Salyapongse, Robyn (his physicians assistant ) and Kim ( his surgery scheduler ) were always available to answer any questions and help with anything I needed help with . I would Highly recommend Dr Salyapongse.

Very highly recommend this fantastic doctor. My daughter saw him regarding hip pain. He was thorough in testing via x-ray and knew what he was doing. His manner is fabulous; friendly, compassionate and has a great sense of humor. My daughter felt very comfortable with him. Staff is very friendly. Nice and comfortable office too.

  • After a couple of years of pain in my back and hip, I was referred to Dr. Talwar. Dr. Talwar realized the problem was not my back and referred me to Dr. Salyapongse. Dr. Salyapongse explained that I needed a total hip replacement at age 49. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable concerning the leading edge of technology in his field. He answered my questions, calmed my fears and made me feel comfortable with my decision to pursue the surgery. His follow-up care was exceptional and his support staff phenomenal. Five months later I developed an infection (strep b). This time I was even more impressed with Dr. Salyapongse's handling of this urgent situation. He explained my options clearly and at that point I knew that I had picked the right surgeon. My experience has been very positive and I feel he is an asset to your practice. He has given me back my active lifestyle free of hip pain.

  • Anterior Hip Replacement - Surgery and hospital stay went very well. I was walking with the aid of a walker on the second day. Stayed on the walker for two days after leaving the hospital and then used a cane for about two weeks. Did my home therapy 3 times a day and went to professional therapy for about 10 sessions. I was playing golf before 2 months after surgery. I can't say enough about the skill and professionalism of all involved.

  • February 2010, Dr. Salyapongse replaced my right knee. Before the operation, Dr. Salapongse, told me that I will get mobility improvement, but he was not sure how much. See my right knee was a total mess, and I was not standing up straight, walking very good, and in pain a lot. Since the operation, I am standing taller, walking much better, and can do things I was not able to do for years. His bed side manner is great, along with the way he cares for someone on a case by case situation. Also, because I have Parkinson, Dr. Salyapongse contacted the Doctor that I see for my Parkinson.

  • I recently had right hip replacement surgery and I consider myself VERY fortunate to have Dr. Salyapongse as my surgeon. He is just what you hope to find in a doctor. He didn't push surgery, but he also didn't hesitate once we had exhausted the other interventions - he knew how much pain was involved in my condition (even though I am considered young for the procedure). The surgery went very well, and I was off pain pills and walking with crutches in a week, driving and walking with a cane in 4 weeks, and back at work walking better than ever with no assistance and no pain and no limp six weeks later. Everyone thought I had a great physical therapist, but it was the skill of the surgeon and the newer minimally invasive approach. I still can't believe how small the scar is! I would do it again in a heartbeat.

  • I had a new custom hip joint inserted on May 24th, 2011 by Doctor Salyaponge. He and I discussed my needs and the availability of a strong, collared, large replacement – and that is exactly what I got. The surgery obviously went very well and there were no complications anytime afterwards, though I will discuss which general anesthetic and post-op pain killers to use next time (when this hip wears out). I haven't noticed any geometry differences from the original and my range of motion is getting better. I walked out of the hospital two days later. The recovery felt rather slow, but then my muscles and tendons were very tight I guess even though I was still running three miles a week before surgery. If I hadn't been so restless the hospital stay would have been agreeable. The nurses were great as were all concerned doctors and therapists. Recovery: Three months – backpacked 25 mile round trip to 12,500 ft Mt Conness in Yosemite. I was very cautious and had no problems. Four months – started running moderately again and went back to fencing. Felt like I had 90% use again. Six months – Running uphill almost like old times and able to lunge better while fencing. Leg is much stronger. Felt like 90% use again. Eight months – Leg getting stronger still. Felt like 90% use again. Obviously I had forgotten just how strong my legs used to be. Ten months – Can actually run like I used to but don't, just to make sure I don't impact the hip too much. Even so I will fence aggressively. The hip muscles still get pretty sore after a vigorous work out but that is okay. Feels like 90% use again. I won't feel 100% until I can do one-legged deep knee bends like before, maybe even with a backpack on. I forgot that it took three years for my partially torn ACL to heal completely. Two more months until my one year post-op. I'm anxious about what the X-rays will show. I have already put many miles on the new hip and have treated it like the good one, living the active lifestyle I always have. If it shows any wear so far I will be concerned. If it doesn't I will be ecstatic. Just a few years ago I would have been resigned to being crippled and half blind (had a cataract operation). Modern medicine and highly skilled surgeons! Thank-you Doctor Salyaponge and Jamie - and all support personnel!

  • I was treated very well at the front counter and was called into Dr. Salyapongse's office soon after my appointment time. The Doctor had a good manner and developed a good rapport with me. His opinion on my hip was conservative and seemed well thought out.

  • It was a very humbling yet awesome experience, especially since I was able to participate this year with both of my sons at my side. Many thanks to Dr. Salyapongse & my new hips!

  • I flew from Nebraska to Oakland, Ca and when I got off the plane my knee was hurting. It continued to get worse with time so I decided to go to the Valley Care emergency. They conducted tests, including an xray and could not tell me what was wrong with my knee except to say I had some arthritis but not severe. They gave me Dr. Salyapongse's name and advised me to go see him. I then made an appointment, went in ti see him, told him all that happened. he called to have my xrays sent over. he agreed that the arthritis was not severe. He examined my knee closely and determined that there was fluid on my knee. he then removed the excess fluid from my knee and then administered an injection of cortizone. What a difference it made! I could start walking without a cane and actually get into my bed without agonizing. I am SO HAPPY to have been led to Dr. Salyapongse. I would have had a miserable vacation with my daughter without his help.

  • 3 weeks to the day after (arth. meniscus) knee surgery, I played a 2 day golf tournament. With a slightly modified stance (front toe pointed out) I played Saturday with no pain and only moderate discomfort the next morning. On Sunday I shot my personal best round in tournament play, and still only moderate discomfort the next morning. Thank you very much!
